Tokyo, June 12 (Jiji Press)--Xiang Xiang, a hugely popular female giant panda at Tokyo's Ueno Zoo, turned two years old on Wednesday, with a crowd of people flocking to the zoo to say happy birthday to her.

On its website, the zoo released a video looking back on her growth. It also held a commemorative event and put special goods on Xiang Xiang on sale.

Visitors formed a long line in front of the giant panda enclosure to congratulate Xiang Xiang on her second birthday.

"I'm glad that she is doing fine, without getting sick up until now," said Tomoe Takano, 30, from the town of Ibaraki in the eastern Japan prefecture of Ibaraki. "I'd like to visit the zoo again while she stays here."

"I realized how big Xiang Xiang has grown," a 34-year-old homemaker from the city if Koshigaya, Saitama Prefecture, north of Tokyo, said, seeing a chronological display of her feces, from the time when the giant panda was a baby, at the event. "I hope Xiang Xiang eats well and grows up healthy."
