Nagoya, June 24 (Jiji Press)--Toyota Motor Corp. <7203> said Monday that its four dealership networks will start offering all Toyota vehicles in May 2020, five years ahead of schedule.

Currently, the four channels sell different models to meet different customer needs--Toyota for luxury vehicles, Toyopet for intermediate models, Corolla for popular cars and Netz for models targeting younger generations.

In November last year, Toyota said it would let roughly 6,000 dealerships in the four channels across Japan, mostly run independently, sell all vehicle models of the company by 2025 at the latest. Four dealerships controlled directly by Toyota in Tokyo have been making full-lineup sales since April through their merger.

But the leading Japanese automaker has decided to accelerate the sales channel streamlining to improve customer convenience while cutting sales costs as well as costs to develop models by channel, given the fast shrinking of the domestic new auto market on the back of the declining population and diminishing interest in possessing cars among younger people.

Toyota said it will also boost its shift to a new business model focusing on vehicle-sharing services.
