Trump Complains about U.S. Defense Pact with Japan

Washington, June 26 (Jiji Press)--U.S. President Donald Trump made a fresh complaint about his country's security treaty with Japan in an interview with Fox Business News broadcast Wednesday.

"If Japan is attacked, we will fight World War III. We will go in and protect them with our lives and with our treasure," he said.

"But if we are attacked, Japan doesn't have to help us at all. They can watch on a Sony television the attack," he continued.

On Monday, U.S. news agency Bloomberg reported that Trump had privately mused about withdrawing from the longstanding treaty, regarding it as too one-sided.

Both the U.S. and Japanese governments have said the report has no basis at all.
