Nissan's Pay to Ghosn for FY 2018 Tops 1.6 B. Yen, Though Mostly Unpaid
Tokyo, June 27 (Jiji Press)--Former Nissan Motor Co. <7201> Chairman Carlos Ghosn would have received a total of 1,652 million yen in executive compensation for fiscal 2018 that ended in March, the company revealed in a report on Thursday.
Actually, 1,237 million yen was unpaid mainly because he was stripped of his chairman's post after being arrested in November on charges of concealing his income. The unpaid portion includes compensation that he was to receive after retirement as Nissan chairman.
According to a separate report released by the major Japanese automaker the same day, incumbent President Hiroto Saikawa's reappointment as a board member was supported by 78 pct of shareholders at their general meeting Tuesday.
The approval rating for Saikawa was considerably lower than the 99.1 pct for each of the two board members from Nissan's French partner--Renault SA Chairman Jean-Dominique Senard and Renault Chief Executive Thierry Bollore.
