Osaka, June 27 (Jiji Press)--Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday accepted an invitation from Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to visit Japan as a state guest next spring.

During their meeting in the western Japan city of Osaka, Abe asked Xi to visit Japan as a state guest during next year's cherry blossom season to raise the bilateral relationship to a higher level.

In response, Xi said that visiting Japan in spring next year would be a good idea.

The meeting between Abe and Xi came a day before leaders from the Group of 20 leading economies, including them, begin a two-day summit in Osaka. Japan-China relations have improved since Abe's visit to China in October.
