Ghosn Cancels Friday Night Press Conference
Tokyo, June 28 (Jiji Press)--Disgraced former Nissan Motor Co. <7201> Chairman Carlos Ghosn has canceled a press conference planned for Friday evening in Tokyo.
The event, planned to be held at the Foreign Correspondents' Club of Japan from 9 p.m. (noon GMT), was called off due to opposition from members of his family, sources familiar with the matter said.
Ghosn, 65, was expected to use the opportunity to reiterate that he is innocent of a series of financial misconduct he is accused of.
According to the FCCJ, the event was scheduled to coincide with the Group of 20 summit in the western Japan city of Osaka that started on the day for a two-day run.
The press conference would have been Ghosn's first since his initial arrest on Nov. 19 last year by Tokyo prosecutors for allegedly covering up part of his executive pay from Nissan.
