Japan Crown Prince, Princess Attend Reception in Finland
Helsinki, July 3 (Jiji Press)--Japanese Crown Prince Akishino and Crown Princess Kiko attended on Wednesday evening a reception commemorating the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Finland.
The reception was held at the official residence of the Japanese ambassador to Finland in Helsinki.
The event brought together about 140 people. Among the participants were Finnish Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto, other Finnish government officials, Japanese residents in Finland and people associated with Japan-Finland ties.
"I ardently hope that the two countries' relations will continue far into the future and stay bright like the summer sun in Finland," the Crown Prince said in a speech.
Earlier on Wednesday, the royal couple visited Turku, an old city in the southwestern part of Finland.
