Flaws Found in 2,923 More Leopalace21 Apartment Buildings
Tokyo, July 10 (Jiji Press)--Leopalace21 Corp. <8848> has reported defects in 2,923 more apartment buildings constructed by the company.
The revelation, made on Tuesday, brought the total number of problematic Leopalace21 apartment buildings to 19,689, up from 16,766 at the end of May.
The Japanese company is currently investigating all of some 39,000 buildings it constructed in the country for possible flaws.
Problems, such as the lack of party walls to block fire and sound in attics, were discovered in about 80 pct of 25,992 buildings for which inspections had been completed as of the end of last month.
The investigation, initially slated to end in June, has been extended. The company is working to set a new deadline for finishing the examination and will review its current plan of completing by the end of October the renovation of defective buildings.
