Tokyo, July 16 (Jiji Press)--NEC Corp. <6701> President Takashi Niino has voiced enthusiasm to allow people to enjoy vacations without having to bring wallets and keys through a biometric identification system.

The major Japanese electronics maker plans to spread biometric services, which identify individuals by cross-checking their faces and other information, to make them a new source of earnings for NEC, Niino said in a recent interview.

The system is "technically" possible, he said

"There is a chance in various situations," he added, expressing his eagerness to apply the services to areas outside the tourism industry.

NEC is conducting a demonstration test to realize such trips in cooperation with the operator of Nanki-Shirahama Airport in Shirahama, Wakayama Prefecture, western Japan.
