Ideas for 2025 Osaka Expo Emblem to Be Publicly Solicited
Osaka, July 25 (Jiji Press)--The operator of the 2025 World Exposition in Osaka will publicly solicit ideas for the emblem of the event, top official Hiroyuki Ishige said Thursday.
The Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition will start soliciting ideas as early as September to set the design around spring 2020, Secretary-General Ishige told a press conference in the western Japan city.
The public-private body will work on the concept and other details soon.
"I hope the venue, Yumeshima, will be a gateway to tourist spots and research centers in the Kansai western region and other parts of Japan," Ishige also said. Yumeshima is an artificial island in Osaka Bay.
This was his first press conference since he assumed the role in May. A former Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry official, Ishige had served as chairman of the Japan External Trade Organization.
