Additional Lottery to Offer 680,000 Tokyo Olympic Tickets
Tokyo, July 30 (Jiji Press)--A total of some 680,000 tickets for 20 Tokyo Olympic events next year will be sold in an additional lottery for those who failed to win a ticket in the first lottery in May, the organizing committee of the 2020 Games said Tuesday.
The application period will be from the small hours of Aug. 8 to 11:59 a.m. on Aug. 19 (2:59 a.m. GMT). The result of the lottery will be announced on Sept. 11.
Events covered by tickets to be sold in the additional lottery will include the quarterfinals of the men's and women's soccer, as well as the final of the men's 10,000 meters and that of the women's 5,000 meters. Tickets for the opening and closing ceremonies will not be included.
The committee said 5.12 million people applied for tickets in the first lottery. Of them, 960,000 people won tickets and 3.22 million tickets were sold, meaning that 4.16 million people can apply for the additional lottery.
Applicants can apply for tickets on the official ticket sale site using the same 2020 Games ID for the first lottery.
