Tokyo, July 30 (Jiji Press)--Sony Corp. <6758> said Tuesday that its group net profit in April-June dropped 32.8 pct from a year before to 152,122 million yen, due mainly to falling sales of video game consoles and televisions.
Overall sales in the fiscal first quarter dropped 1.4 pct to 1,925,724 million yen.
The Japanese electronics and entertainment company lowered its sales forecast for its PlayStation 4 video game console by one million units for the year through March 2020.
It also cut its forecast for overall sales by 200 billion yen to 8.6 trillion yen, down 0.8 pct from the previous year.
In the first quarter, the operating profit of Sony's game business, which makes up about 30 pct of the company's total, dropped by 9,646 million yen to 73,804 million yen due to a lack of hit game titles.
