Kyocera to Shift Printer Output to Vietnam from China

Osaka, Aug. 2 (Jiji Press)--Japan's Kyocera Corp. <6971> plans to transfer multifunction printer production in China, for shipments to North America, to Vietnam, following the escalation of U.S.-China trade disputes, President Hideo Tanimoto said Friday.

Tanimoto disclosed the plan at a press conference to announce the company's earnings for April-June.

On Thursday, U.S. President Donald Trump said on Twitter that his country will slap 10 pct tariffs on additional Chinese goods worth 300 billion dollars, effective Sept. 1.

At Kyocera, its multifunction printer business will suffer the biggest impact in terms of value from the fourth round of U.S. punitive tariffs on China, Tanimoto said.

"It will take several months" to complete the shift, he added.
