Tokyo, Aug. 4 (Jiji Press)--A Japanese woman in her 70s is undergoing an Ebola test as she developed a fever after returning from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, which has been hit by an outbreak of the deadly hemorrhagic fever, the Japanese Health, Labor and Welfare Ministry said Sunday.
The woman, a resident of Saitama Prefecture, north of Tokyo, has tested positive for influenza in a simple examination, according to the ministry.
She told the ministry that she did not have any contact with Ebola patients during her stay in the central African country.
The woman returned to Japan on Wednesday after working in the nation for more than six months, ministry officials said.
She had a fever of 38.2 degrees Celsius as of 5 a.m. Saturday (8 p.m. Friday GMT), the officials said.
