Reward System to Arrest Home-Invading Thieves Starts in Aichi
Nagoya, Aug. 5 (Jiji Press)--The Aichi prefectural police have started offering a reward for information leading to the arrest of a home-invading thief, according to police officials.
Aichi Prefecture has seen the largest number of home-invasion theft and robbery cases in Japan for the 12th consecutive year.
The central Japan prefectural police are the first in the country that have introduced a reward system aimed at preventing such crimes.
People who helped the police arrest a perpetrator by reporting to the police or giving information will receive 10,000 yen from a related committee, according to the officials.
The police started accepting information on Friday. The reward system is scheduled to continue until the end of March 2020.
