Seoul, Aug. 6 (Jiji Press)--North Korea carried out two projectile launches in the small hours of Tuesday, the South Korean military's Joint Chiefs of Staff said.

The projectiles were fired toward the Sea of Japan from South Hwanghae Province in the southwestern region of North Korea, according to the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

The launched objects are short-range projectiles, said an official at the South Korean presidential office.

North Korea's latest action followed similar launches on July 25, Wednesday and Friday.

The North Korean Foreign Ministry on Tuesday condemned the joint military exercise between South Korea and the United States that began Monday, according to Pyongyang's state-run Korean Central News Agency.
