Recruit Career Scraps Job Offer Refusal Prediction Service

Tokyo, Aug. 6 (Jiji Press)--Japanese job information provider Recruit Career Co. has abolished a service to sell data on the probability of job-hunting students declining informal job offers, calculated by artificial intelligence, according to the company.

Recruit Career provided such data to companies without obtaining proper consent from some students.

The cancellation, announced Monday, came as the company finds it difficult to continue the service after damaging its relations of trust with students, company officials said.

Recruit Career will call on companies to destroy the information provided in the service, while offering apologies to affected students via email.

The data on 7,983 students were used without their consent.
