London, Aug. 13 (Jiji Press)--Britain's Prince Charles will visit Japan in October to attend the "Sokuirei-Seiden-no-Gi" ceremony for declaring Japanese Emperor Naruhito's enthronement, the Royal Household has said.

The Japan visit by the Prince of Wales will be the fifth and the first since 2008.

Prince Charles will join the ceremony, scheduled to take place at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo's Chiyoda Ward on Oct. 22, on behalf of Queen Elizabeth II.

He will be the first major British Royal Family member to visit Japan since Emperor Naruhito assumed the throne on May 1.

In 1990, Prince Charles participated in Sokuirei-Seiden-no-Gi for previous Japanese Emperor Akihito, who now holds the title of Emperor Emeritus.
