N. Korea's Kim Inspects Test-Firing of New Weapon Again: KCNA
Seoul, Aug. 17 (Jiji Press)--North Korean leader Kim Jong Un inspected the test-firing of a new weapon again on Friday, Pyongyang's official Korean Central News Agency reported Saturday.
KCNA quoted Kim as stressing, after a series of recent missile launches, that the development of a cutting-edge weapon resulted in a miraculous victory that is unprecedented in the history of the national defense industry's development.
Kim indicated that North Korea will strengthen its national defense capability further, saying that his country's national defense science research division acquired deterrent power to prevent a nuclear war over the past three years, according to the agency.
KCNA unveiled a picture of a missile being launched from a transporter erector launcher, or TEL, in smoke and fire.
On Friday, North Korea launched two projectiles believed to be short-range ballistic missiles from Tongchon in Kangwon Province on the eastern coast into the Sea of Japan. KCNA's report on Saturday is apparently about the launch.
