Economy

Tokyo, Aug. 23 (Jiji Press)--Konica Minolta Inc. <4902> has invested 200 million yen in Tokyo-based nursing service startup Welmo Inc.

Through the alliance, the two companies hope to help ease the burden of nursing care workers by utilizing artificial intelligence and Internet of Things technologies.

Specifically, they will provide services allowing nursing home workers to monitor elderly residents through their smartphones and efficiently confirm their safety at nighttime.

Welmo aims to create a business foundation for supporting nursing home residents and care workers by 2025, when all baby boomers in Japan will be 75 or older.
