Tokyo, Sept. 3 (Jiji Press)--Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said at a meeting of Liberal Democratic Party executives on Tuesday that he will reshuffle his cabinet and the LDP leadership team on Sept. 11.
Abe may appoint Akira Amari, close to him, to a key party post again, sources familiar with the matter said.
Amari resigned as economic revitalization minister over a money scandal in January 2016. He assumed his current post, head of the LDP Election Strategy Committee, last year.
Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Taro Aso, who leads the party faction that includes Amari, is asking Abe to give Amari a key post such as party secretary-general, according to the sources.
Meanwhile, some party members are recommending him as chairman of the party's Policy Research Council.
