Ghosn's 1st Trial to Be Held Next Spring
Tokyo, Sept. 5 (Jiji Press)--Tokyo District Court aims to hold the first hearing in the trial of former Nissan Motor Co. <7201> Chairman Carlos Ghosn next March or April, informed sources said Thursday.
Pretrial proceedings were held at the court the same day for the trial on his alleged securities law violation through underreporting of his executive compensation in Nissan annual securities filings.
Ghosn, 65, is also alleged to have committed aggravated breach of trust by using company funds for his personal purposes. Regarding this alleged violation of the companies law, it has not been decided when to hold the first hearing, the sources said.
At the pretrial proceedings so far, participants discussed what statements prosecutors will give at the trial. The defense team, for its part, will submit by mid-October documents on what it plans to claim, according to the sources.
It has recently emerged that Nissan President Hiroto Saikawa, 65, and some other executives are also likely to have received inappropriate compensation.
