Gifu, Sept. 10 (Jiji Press)--Japanese regional lender Ogaki Kyoritsu Bank <8361> and convenience store operator FamilyMart Co. <8028> concluded an agreement on Tuesday to cooperate in the event of disasters.

Under the arrangement, the bank will dispatch trucks carrying automated teller machines to disaster-hit FamilyMart stores.

People affected by disasters who have lost their cash cards can withdraw money without them if they are clients of the bank's palm vein identification service.

Ogaki Kyoritsu will give financial assistance to owners of disaster-stricken FamilyMart outlets, while the convenience store chain will provide daily necessities, including drinking water, to evacuation shelters.

This is FamilyMart's first antidisaster deal with a financial institution in the Tokai region, central Japan.
