Tokyo, Sept. 11 (Jiji Press)--Sony Corp. <6758> said Wednesday it will showcase its products and technologies at this year's CEATEC electronics trade show in Japan, its first appearance in six years.

The Japanese electronics maker stopped taking part in CEATEC in 2014 due to a downturn in its earnings.

Sony will focus its display at this year's CEATEC on medical devices and technologies, without presenting home appliances, company officials said.

This year's CEATEC is scheduled to take place at the Makuhari Messe exhibition complex in the city of Chiba, east of Tokyo, on Oct. 15-18.

The decision to participate in CEATEC comes as the purpose of the trade show meets Sony's focus on creating social value through technology development, the officials said.
