Tokyo, Sept. 12 (Jiji Press)--Seven Bank <8410> said Thursday that it will introduce next-generation automated teller machines equipped with high-precision facial recognition cameras.

The new ATMs will allow users to open a bank account by using forms of identification, such as their driver's license, the Japanese bank said.

The Seven & i Holdings Co. <3382> unit will start testing the new ATMs in Tokyo in late October.

"ATMs will evolve day by day in response to the needs of customers and society," Seven Bank President Yasuaki Funatake said at a press conference in Tokyo.

"The new ATMs are designed to increase security," said Takashi Niino, president and chief executive officer of NEC Corp. <6701>, which developed them jointly with Seven Bank.
