Tokyo, Sept. 13 (Jiji Press)--Work to restore electricity in the eastern Japan prefecture of Chiba, hit hard by Typhoon Faxai, may take another week or more in some areas that suffered heavy damages such as fallen trees, new industry minister Isshu Sugawara told a press conference Friday.
Meanwhile, Sugawara indicated that electricity will be restored in a day or two in most areas.
The 15th typhoon of this year struck the region early Monday.
Tokyo Electric Power Holdings Inc. <9501> will offer detailed prospects for power restoration in a press conference later in the day.
To accelerate restoration work, Sugawara said the number of power company personnel engaged in such operation will be boosted to 16,000 from 11,000 and Self-Defense Forces will also be dispatched to the affected areas.
