Trump Says to Seal Trade Deal with Japan in "Coming Weeks"
Washington, Sept. 16 (Jiji Press)--U.S. President Donald Trump notified the Congress on Monday that he intends to seal a trade agreement with Japan "in the coming weeks."
The move came as Trump and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe aim to sign a trade deal when they meet in New York next week, on the sidelines of a U.N. General Assembly session.
"My Administration has reached an initial trade agreement regarding tariff barriers...with Japan and I intend to enter into the agreement in the coming weeks," Trump said in a statement.
The president added that his government will also conclude an agreement with Japan on digital trade.
