Sports Hospitality Packages Proving a Winning Formula in Japan

Tokyo, Sept. 18 (Jiji Press)--Sports hospitality packages enabling people to view marquee sports events while enjoying luxury services, such as fancy meals and commentary by former athletes, are gaining popularity among wealthy people in Japan.

For the 2019 Rugby World Cup, set to open Friday in Japan, a product priced at more than 40 million yen was sold out.

"We want to help the new style of enjoying sports events become rooted in Japan, especially in the run-up to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics," an official at a company that offers such services said.

STH Japan K.K., based in Tokyo, is commissioned by the international rugby organizing group to sell hospitality packages.

The most expensive product for the 2019 Rugby World Cup offered by the company is priced at about 2 million yen per person. The product, available for groups of at least 20, allows people to have meals in dedicated individual rooms and watch all seven games to be held at Nissan Stadium in Yokohama, south of Tokyo, in special seats.
