Toyota Launches Fully Redesigned Corolla

Tokyo, Sept. 17 (Jiji Press)--Toyota Motor Corp. <7203> launched on Tuesday the fully redesigned Corolla passenger cars featuring nimbleness despite its expanded body, anticollision systems and connection with smartphones.

The latest models, the 12th generation in the Japanese automaker's mainstay passenger car series launched in 1966, marked the first full redesign in seven years and four months. The long-selling series posted over 47.5 million units in cumulative global sales.

The sticker price for the Corolla sedan and the Corolla Touring wagon ranges from 1,936,000 yen to 2,997,500 yen, with a 10 pct consumption tax included.

"We offer cars that top customers' expectations at affordable prices," Executive Vice President Moritaka Yoshida told a briefing in Tokyo.

Toyota aims to sell 7,100 units in a combined monthly total.
