Princess Kako Wants Lasting Japan-Austria Friendship

Vienna, Sept. 17 (Jiji Press)--Japanese Princess Kako expressed hope for a lasting friendship between her country and Austria in a speech delivered in Vienna on Tuesday.

"I hope from the bottom of my heart that the friendly relations between the two countries that have been established by many people will last everlastingly," the princess said.

She made the comments at a reception held at the official residence of the Japanese ambassador to Austria to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic ties.

The visit to Austria by Princess Kako, the second daughter of Crown Prince Akishino and Crown Princess Kiko, marked her first official overseas trip.

Karl Bader, president of the Federal Council, upper chamber of Austria's parliament, said that it is a great honor to have her.
