Chiba, Sept. 18 (Jiji Press)--Some 48,000 households remained without electricity in Chiba Prefecture, east of Tokyo, Wednesday with fresh reports of damage from Typhoon Faxai still pouring in.
About 7,600 households have no running water while some 180 people are staying at evacuation centers, according to the prefectural government. The typhoon ripped through the prefecture Sept. 9.
Damage to houses and agricultural operations is seen expanding further because some municipalities remain unable to report the situation of damage to the prefectural government.
According to the prefecture, eight residential buildings were fully destroyed, 19 half destroyed, and 6,171 partially destructed. Thirty-five were flooded above floor level, and 45 below the level.
Of the total affected residential buildings, over 30 pct are in Futtsu and Kimitsu, both in the southern part of the prefecture. The number of affected buildings stood at 1,133 in Futtsu and 1,160 in Kimitsu.
