9-Year-Old Boy Found Dead in Housing Complex in Saitama

Saitama, Sept. 18 (Jiji Press)--The body of a nine-year-old boy who had apparently been strangled was found in a housing complex in Saitama Prefecture, eastern Japan, in the early hours of Wednesday.

According to the Saitama prefectural police department, the body of Ryosuke Shindo, an elementary school fourth-grader, was discovered in a common space in the condominium in the city of Saitama for prefectural school staff, where Ryosuke and his parents live.

The police are investigating the incident as a suspected murder.

Investigators' search for Ryosuke started after his mother called police around 8:20 p.m. Tuesday (11:20 a.m. GMT), because he had not returned home from an English conversation school.

She and her husband were at home when she called police, according to the police.
