Mazda Starts Accepting Orders for New CX-30 SUV

Tokyo, Sept. 20 (Jiji Press)--Mazda Motor Corp. <7261> started accepting orders on Friday for its new SUV model, the CX-30, set to go on sale on Oct. 24 in Japan.

The company aims to make the CX-30, with an engine displacement of 1,800-2,000 cc, its flagship model, to compete in the strong domestic market for SUVs.

The CX-30 model is designed to be intermediate in size, between the CX-3 compact SUV and the CX-5 medium-size SUV, to turn on a dime and drive easily in urban areas.

It exterior is designed to look sporty and elegant.

"The model will become one of the main pillars supporting Mazda," Mazda President Akira Marumoto told a press conference.
