Tokyo, Sept. 27 (Jiji Press)--Japan's combined automobile output in August fell 1.6 pct from a year before to 648,407 units, logging the first decline in two months, data from eight major automakers showed Friday.
Production went down at five of the eight companies.
Suzuki Motor Corp. <7269>, which curbed its production in response to a scandal over its improper inspections, saw a 15.5 pct drop to 65,208 units.
Likewise, Subaru Corp.'s <7270> production fell 4.3 pct to 44,534 units.
Mitsubishi Motors Corp.'s <7211> output dropped 15.0 pct to 39,488 units, due to weaking positive effects of the introduction of the Eclipse Cross SUV model in March 2018.
