London, Oct. 1 (Jiji Press)--Swiss food giant Nestle has opened outlets of KitKat Chocolatory, a Japan-originated chocolate shop brand, in Britain.

The new KitKat shops, located in about 30 department stores, will operate for a limited period, until Dec. 24, offering chocolate products with original tastes such as Earl Grey tea and marmalade. They also provide customers with personalized flavors.

After being launched by a company in York, England, in 1935, KitKat became a phenomenal hit worldwide. The brand was then acquired by Nestle.

The world's first outlet of high-end KitKat Chocolatory opened in Tokyo in 2014. More shops of the brand were launched in Japan later, including in the western cities of Osaka and Hiroshima.

"The introduction of KitKat Chocolatory is all about the demand for more luxury, premium confectionery," Stefano Agostini, chief executive officer for Nestle's operations in Britain and Ireland, said.
