Tokyo, Oct. 9 (Jiji Press)--An academic association and the graduate school of Chiba University of Commerce said Wednesday that they will jointly open a business course in Tokyo's Marunouchi business district in April next year that will offer an opportunity to study corporate management emphasizing people's happiness.

It will focus on business management prioritizing the happiness of employees, their families and customers, and local communities concerned.

Participants will learn about the experiences of more than 500 people-friendly small businesses that reject traditional Japanese corporate practices such as setting quotas and letting employees work long hours.

It will be the first such business course in Japan, according to the association and the university, which has its main campus in the city of Ichikawa, Chiba Prefecture, east of Tokyo.

The one-year course, to be offered at the university's "satellite campus" in Marunouchi, will enroll up to about 30 participants, mainly small business owners and employees of large companies who are considering starting their own businesses.
