60 Pct in Japan Oppose Introduction of Casino Resorts
Tokyo, Oct. 18 (Jiji Press)--Almost 60 pct of the public in Japan opposes plans to introduce casino-featuring integrated resorts, highlighting widespread concern about a possible deterioration in public security, a Jiji opinion survey has found.
The October survey found that 57.9 pct of the respondents disagreed with the plan, while 26.6 pct agreed with it.
Among the respondents supporting the plan, 62.8 pct said they would back the establishment of such a facility in their local areas, while 29.0 pct said they would not.
The government plans to accept up to three integrated resorts across Japan.
A Japan Tourism Agency survey has found eight regions are scheduled to make a bid to host such a resort or are considering doing this.
