Abe Promises Diplomacy for Middle East Stability
Tokyo, Oct. 25 (Jiji Press)--Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's string of meetings with world leaders continued Thursday, including talks with Iranian Vice President Laya Joneydi in which the prime minister stressed his country's commitment to help stabilize the Middle East through diplomacy.
"We will persistently continue our diplomatic efforts," Abe said.
Joneydi said her country welcomes Japan's efforts.
The two did not speak about Japan's possible deployment of the Self-Defense Forces to the Middle East.
The prime minister has been having talks with foreign dignitaries visiting Japan for the "Sokuirei-Seiden-no-Gi" ceremony held on Tuesday for proclaiming Emperor Naruhito's enthronement.
