Xiaomi to Enter Japanese Market


Beijing, Nov. 8 (Jiji Press)--Xiaomi Corp. will enter the Japanese market next year to sell smartphones and appliances such as televisions, a senior company official said Friday.

The Chinese company will open stores in Japan to coincide with the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, the official told Jiji Press and other Japanese media outlets at its Beijing headquarters.

Details such as locations and scale were not disclosed.

Founded in 2010, Xiaomi is the fourth largest smartphone maker in China. Its products also include smart speakers using artificial intelligence technology.
