Economy Guide to Japan

Osaka, Nov. 14 (Jiji Press)--Construction of complex skyscraper Yodobashi Umeda Tower in the Umeda downtown district of Osaka, western Japan, has been completed.

The tower, which has 35 stories aboveground and four underground levels, will host a shopping complex, Links Umeda, that will open on Saturday.

The tower is expected to become a new tourist spot in Osaka's downtown.

Links Umeda, which stretches from the first basement to the eighth aboveground floor, was shown to reporters on Wednesday.

Major Japanese electronics retailer Yodobashi Holdings, the tower operator, runs a leading store near the tower, which will be connected to the shopping complex. The total sales floor space of the two stores will reach some 90,000 square meters, making it the largest such store in Japan.
