Kawasaki, Kanagawa Pref., Nov. 14 (Jiji Press)--Sakie Yokota expressed anger Thursday over North Korea being allowed to hold her daughter, Megumi, and other Japanese citizens for decades.

The 83-year-old mother met the press in Kawasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture, on the eve of the 42nd anniversary of Megumi's abduction by North Korean agents at the age of 13.

"The time, 42 years, is infuriatingly long," she said.

Thursday marked the 87th birthday of her husband, Shigeru, who has been hospitalized.

"It's hard for him to speak and eat, but he's doing his best," she said.
