Osaka Urban Onsen Baths Drawing Attention

Osaka, Nov. 18 (Jiji Press)--More and more onsen hot spring baths have been launched in urban areas in Osaka Prefecture, reflecting their popularity among foreign visitors hoping to experience something unique to Japan.
Also behind the urban onsen boom are increasing needs from general city dwellers looking for places to relax.
Both new and existing facilities, such as hotels and spas, are fighting to win customers.
"Solaniwa Onsen," a hot spring facility without accommodation, opened in Osaka, the capital of the namesake prefecture, in February.
The largest onsen facility in the Kansai western Japan region uses a theme of the country's Azuchi-Momoyama period until 1603, during which the country was unified under a single warlord.
