Pope Calls for A-Bomb Abolition before Japan Visit
Paris, Nov. 18 (Jiji Press)--Pope Francis called for the abolition of nuclear weapons in a video message released online Monday ahead of his visit to Japan.
"Together with all of you, I pray that the destructive power of nuclear weapons is never used again in human history. It is immoral to use nuclear weapons," the three-minute message said.
The pope is set to visit Japan for four days from Saturday.
He expressed hope that his visit will encourage people to proceed along the path to "firm and lasting" peace.
"I assure you of my solidarity prayer for all and each one of you," he also said.
