Tokyo, Dec. 5 (Jiji Press)--Sales of imported foreign-brand vehicles in Japan in November fell 5.7 pct from a year before to 23,753 units, down for the second consecutive month, industry data showed Thursday.

The drop came after sales plunged over 20 pct in October, when the consumption tax was raised from 8 pct to 10 pct and Japan was hit by typhoons.

Mercedes-Benz was the top-selling foreign brand, with its sales growing 11.0 pct to 6,051 units, according to the Japan Automobile Importers Association.

Volkswagen ranked second, with sales of 3,761 units, down 14.1 pct. BMW came in third place, with its sales tumbling 18.7 pct to 3,459 units.
