Tokyo, Dec. 11 (Jiji Press)--Sony Corp. <6758> said Wednesday its U.S. subsidiary Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc. has acquired a London-based company making videos for children, through a subsidiary.

Columbia Pictures Corp. purchased Silvergate Media Group for some 195 million dollars.

Silvergate makes the television series Peter Rabbit, famous chiefly in Western countries and China.

With the acquisition, Sony Pictures aims to bolster its video content business for children.

The acquisition will have only a limited impact on Sony's consolidated earnings for fiscal 2019, which ends in 2020, the company said.
