SpaceJet Runway Test Shown to Media

Moses Lake, Washington, Dec. 11 (Jiji Press)--Mitsubishi Aircraft Corp. on Tuesday showed media a runway test in the U.S. state of Washington for its SpaceJet, the first passenger jet built in Japan.

The Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. <7011> unit has delayed the first delivery of SpaceJet five times so far. The present delivery deadline is the middle of 2020.

Currently, four SpaceJets are undergoing flight tests at Grant County International Airport in Moses Lake.

On Tuesday, one of the jets moved down the runway at speeds of 70 to 100 kilometers per hour to test its performance.

Mitsubishi Aircraft has seen a delay in the completion of a new test jet, which could make it difficult for the company to receive a type certificate, a requirement for commercial flights, in time for the planned delivery.
