Tokyo, May 6 (Jiji Press)--Thirty-eight new coronavirus infection cases were confirmed in Tokyo on Wednesday, metropolitan government officials said.
The daily number stood below 100 for the fourth straight day in the Japanese capital. Infection routes were unknown for 12 of the 38 cases.
Tokyo's total infection cases thus increased to 4,748.
"Voluntary restrictions on going out seem to have been effective to some extent," an official said. "But we need to check the developments after the end of the Golden Week period."
Across the country, 105 new cases had been confirmed as of 10 p.m. (1 p.m. GMT). The number was even smaller than Tuesday's 121, which was lowest since the beginning of April.
