Tokyo Confirms 260 New Coronavirus Cases

Tokyo, July 24 (Jiji Press)--The Tokyo metropolitan government said Friday it has confirmed 260 new coronavirus cases.
The daily count in the Japanese capital exceeded 200 for the fourth straight day.
Meanwhile, the western prefecture of Osaka reported a record 149 cases, surpassing the previous high of 121 logged Wednesday.
The nationwide daily count reached 771, staying above 700 for the third consecutive day. But the latest figure was lower than the record high of 981 on Thursday.
Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said Friday that the current situation does not warrant an immediate state of emergency declaration.
