Tokyo Newly Confirms 188 Novel Coronavirus Cases

Tokyo, Aug. 11 (Jiji Press)--The Tokyo metropolitan government said Tuesday that 188 people were found positive for the novel coronavirus in the Japanese capital on the day.
The number of newly confirmed cases in Tokyo stood below 200 for the second straight day.
In Aichi Prefecture, central Japan, the daily count of new infections came to 67, falling below 100 for the first time in 15 days. Chiba Prefecture, east of Tokyo, logged 19 new cases, its first figure below 20 in three weeks.
The total number of coronavirus-linked fatalities in the country climbed to 1,074 on Tuesday, with two deaths newly reported in Tokyo and one each in the western prefecture of Osaka, the southwestern prefecture of Fukuoka, and Tochigi, Chiba and Kanagawa prefectures around Tokyo.
In the central prefecture of Nagano, four residents tested positive for the virus by Tuesday after dining with four people from the greater Tokyo area. Furthermore, three people linked to a karaoke bar where two of the four residents visited have been confirmed positive.
