Mabuchi Motor Founder Takaichi Mabuchi Dies at 93

Chiba, Aug. 21 (Jiji Press)--Takaichi Mabuchi, founder and honorary chairman of Mabuchi Motor Co., died on Aug. 7 at the age of 93, the company announced Friday.

Mabuchi grew the company into a global leader in the market for small direct-current motors.

A native of Kagawa Prefecture, western Japan, Mabuchi founded Tokyo Science Industrial Co. in 1954 and established Mabuchi Industrial Co., the predecessor of Mabuchi Motor, in 1958.

He became president of Mabuchi Motor in 1985 and chairman in 2003. He served as honorary chairman from 2013.
